Where is Roatan Island and West Bay Lodge?

Roatan Island is part of the Bay Islands in the Bay of Honduras off the North Coast of Honduras. Roatan truly offers a paradise Island vacation where you will find pristine white sandy beaches, a diverse and unique reef system, heartwarming people, unique cultures and authentic Caribbean charm. Roatan Island is often called the Caribbean's best kept secret.

The Island of Roatan is surrounded by an extensive reef system close to the shore and clear colorful warm water, best known for its world-class diving and snorkeling adventures. Snorkeling is so very popular and we at West Bay Lodge, encourage guided snorkeling tours and boat tours to snorkel other destinations on the reef. Water and snacks are provided. These tours can be booked at the Roatan Activities Center on West Bay beach, just down the street from us.

West Bay Beach has been called one of the top 10 beaches in the world by Conde Nast Traveler .  The nearby village of West End offers fun nightlife, unique gift shops and other restaurants. You can take a water taxi at the West Bay beach pier, just a 3 minute walk from West Bay Lodge! A taxi can also be arranged at the office.

Roatan has an International Airport in Coxen Hole with jet service.  Direct flights are available from Miami, Houston, Atlanta, and other cities in the Americas. 
You may fly to San Pedro Sula or La Ceiba on the mainland of Honduras prior to taking a connecting flight to Roatan, but you will probably take a much smaller plane getting to the island.  Flights are available between Roatan and the mainland of Honduras daily.  There is a $38 departure tax for all visitors when they leave the Island.
West Bay Lodge is located 20 minutes from the airport by taxi.
